What’s the deal with Church

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

This post got well and truely spammed somehow and i lost it!! very weird!

I think this is the quote that i had here:

Jesus called people to follow him, to become disciples. The early disciples, in line with their Jewish heritage, understood that Jesus was not founding a new religion, but a new way of living and of being God’s people, God’s representative missional image on the earth. In Grenz’s words: “The locus of the divine image in the new Testament is the community of Christ who together comprise the foretaste of the new humanity in Christ”. Their concern was not a worry about a personal post-mortem destination, but being part of God’s climatic redemptive new-creation action.

All mission must hold this ‘new creation dream’ as its central tenant in order for it to be caught up in God’s mission. The ultimate goal of mission is peoples on the earth living out the reality of what it means to true humanity, living out the reality of communion with God, community with each other and entering into co-creativity with God. This action will be brought to a wonderful completion on the Messiah’s return, the New Creation work, started in the incarnation and continued by the work of the Spirit who has caught up the people of God in it, will bring about a final transformation of God’s people and of the whole of the cosmos.

New Blog Launch

Saturday, July 14th, 2007

Yes, we have a new blog!! we have decided to have a Uganda team blog. Cool! That basic idea is that we will blog up to our trip so we can talk about our preparations. Also we are talking about blogging during our trip to let everyone know what’s going on!! I think we will have a team member or two allocated to each day to write about what they have done, and how they are doing. Separating it like that will make it not so much of a burden.

So here’s the Blog:

CCN meets New Hope

http://ccnmeetsnewhope.blogspot.com/

It took us a while to come up with a name, so don’t mock it!

We had a great Quiz night last night. Helped of course by the fact that my team won. We were raising money for the Childrens Centre. In particular we were hoping to raise £550 in order to pay for some playground equipment for the Centre.

The boys school had rasied £330, and last night we raised £140 through the quiz and raffle. Then I was amazed to hear that some people had donated more which took us up to exactly what we needed!!!

Now that makes a great night!!

Backgarden Baptisms

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

It was a fantastic morning last Sunday. Not weather-wise, in that sense it was wet and cold, but that did not dampen the enthusiasm [much]. We planned to baptise Dorothy and baptise her we did. She was exceedingly brave, I thought, and i love the fact she loved it so much - she was desparate to get baptised outside. It was all very “organic” [apart from the plastic pool] and so I loved it too. I have a feeling thouigh that future ‘candidates’ may not be so resilient… The photos tell the story:
